Volunteer

PATSA needs volunteers for activities both large and small. We offer both long-term and short-term volunteer projects.  Below is a list of some of the ways you can get involved by volunteering with our organization.  Click on each title to find out more information about that opportunity.  You may submit a volunteer application to get started.  Once your application is received someone from our staff will contact you.

Committee Service:
Serve on a PATSA Committee! Our committees include: Public Relations, Strategic Planning, Fundraising, Pumpkin Run Committee, Legislative, and Camp. As a member you will offer insight and ideas by participating in occasional conference call meetings from the convenience of your own home.  Check here for committee descriptions.  To volunteer in this way fill out our Volunteer Application now here!

Community Speakers Bureau:
Join our Speaker’s Bureau!  Trainings are available by recorded webinar that you can view at your own computer!  We will provide the needed materials.  In this volunteer position you will seek out community organization in your area to educate on Tourette Syndrome and the service that the PA Tourette Syndrome Alliance provides.  These positions are valuable in helping to spread TS awareness and helping us gain community and financial support to allow us to offer more services to those that need it.

Start a local support group! PATSA will walk you through the process of finding and securing a location.  We will provide materials to advertise your group and offer support along the way.  Contact info@patsainc.org for information on this opportunity!

Volunteer to help at our annual Summer Camp or Fall Retreat as a Youth Mentor.  In this position you will work directly with the youth to ensure that their camp experience is a great one.  We provide the training and activities for the weekend.  You are there to supervise and engage with the campers.  There are several other opportunities to help make our camp a success too.  If you are interested in becoming a youth mentor or in volunteering at camp in another capacity, check the TS Family Camp and TS Family Retreat pages for the latest Camp volunteer sign-up or the volunteer requirements for this fun opportunity! Junior Youth Mentor:  A unique opportunity to serve as a Junior Youth Mentor for camp is available to young adults ages 15-18.  The applications for this unique opportunity are accepted in the spring of each year.  Interested candidates are required to fill out an online application or a hard copy application.  To learn more about this please read this position description.  To receive an application get in contact with Sara.

Administrative projects:
There are other smaller projects that we can use help with.  Many of these can be done from the comfort of your own home.  A few of these are mentioned below.  However we are always open to hearing suggestions and working with you to find the perfect place for you to help PATSA!  Contact info@patsainc.org to find out more or offer assistance.

  • Help us update our Lawyer referral list by making phone calls from your own home!  (Other research related volunteer projects are available)
  • Help us engage more people by posting for us on social media.
  • Offer insight and work on our webpage updates.
  • Volunteer to assist with our fundraising activities. Review our Events for current activities and contact us if you can help!
  • Plan & carry out a fundraiser in your local community. Events can be as small as a yard sale or as big as a Benefit Auction. (Contact us for ideas or develop a plan on your own!)

Outreach assistance:
Helping with TS outreach is a great way to educate others! You can choose to staff an information booth at a nearby community fair OR plan & carry out an Awareness Event in your area.  We will provide all the materials and offer you support for your event. Let us know if you have an event in mind or if you’d like to be added to the list of volunteers to be notified if an event comes up in your area. Contact info@patsainc.org for more information.

Hospital outreach has proven to be very helpful in spreading the word of our services to those diagnosed with TS.  We have seen great success at hospitals such at Childrens Hospital of Pittsburgh and CHOP.  Our goal is to get into many other hospitals across PA.  If you are willing to assist us with this please contact info@patsainc.org for more information.

Board of Directors:
